About Caitlin
Caitlin Hegney’s work expresses a fascination with the ambiguous nature of pattern-making. Inspired by the way rhythmic mark-making has transcended generations, she interprets patterns as a common language that communicates between our ancient and present selves.
Wielding unique hand-forged tools, Caitlin translates the expressive quality of her drawings into precious jewellery and hand-mixes pigment recipes to dye reclaimed wooden surfaces alluring shades of blue.
More recently, Caitlin is researching into the rhythms and rituals of ancient culture; the seasons, the moon and tide. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Caitlin has been observing how modern society is seeking comfort in these cycles again. Caitlin is interested in how her jewellery can evoke comfort and be meditative for wearers in these uncertain times.
