Dazzle@Dovecot

Our sixth year at Dovecot Studios on Infirmary Street for the Edinburgh Festival. We will be opening on 4 August until 28 August with an opening party on Thursday 3 August. The light and airy gallery upstairs in the Ladies Baths will be filled with our usual mix of established and new designers, showing the best of contemporary jewellery in a huge variety of materials. There will also be work by a printmaker Anja Percival on the walls,handmade leather bags by Steven Harkin and luxurious handwoven lambswool scarves by Heather Shields. All this and a cafe serving delicious cakes and coffee downstairs!

Anja Percival

Anja Percival lives and works in Durham, a city she returned to after a five year period working in Denmark. Anja specialises in hand drawn copperplate etching.She is fascinated by the different atmospheres that light creates in our environment. Her subject matter is usually quite domestic and everyday but her attention is captured by the effect of the light transforming the spaces and changing the unremarkable to the remarkable. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally with outlets including London, New York, Denmark, Sweden and Canada.

This year for the first time we will be showcasing handmade leather bags by Steven Harkin. Inspired by curves and architectural spaces, his designs are contemporary with a retro look Bright colours, aluminium details and high quality leather define his creations.

Scarves by Heather Shields

Heather Shields is a textile designer and weaver specialising in vibrant, contemporary fabrics, homeware and accessories. Based in Kilcreggan on the west coast of Scotland, her scarves are woven by hand using luxuriously soft lambswool in punchy colour palettes. Inspired by shapes and patterns hidden within everyday surroundings, Heather’s designs are playful colour explorations of life in different environments and cultures.

	JANE ADAM For more than 30 years Jane Adam has built an international reputation as a jewellery designer-maker. She has been exhibiting with Dazzle since graduating from The Royal College of Art in 1985. Her pioneering work in anodised aluminium inspired a new jewellery movement in Britain and abroad. Her work in precious metal and stones builds on this experience to create original and sensuous forms in silver and gold. Her work is in more than 20 public collections including The V&A, Goldsmiths Company and The Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh.dia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and USA.
	ALAN ARDIFF Dublin. Silver and gold. Major international name. Commissions include for "Riverdance"; Eurovision Song Contest & Dublin Regional Authority. In the collection of Billy Connolly, the Danish Embassy & Arthur Anderson. Exhibitions and outlets include Electrum, London and Rubicon Gallery, Dublin. Exhibited in Jewellery Moves, National Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh.
	HANNAH BEDFORD Hannah Bedford designs and makes a wide range of women’s jewellery, in silvers and golds. Each piece is handcrafted from her studio at Cockpit Arts Deptford, in the hub of south London’s creative community.
	ROSINA BEECH Rosina finds beauty and colour in unusual functional industrial materials and components. In her Luna collection she combines Sterling Silver with Architectural Aluminium to create unique statement pieces of contemporary jewellery.
	STACEY BENTLEY Stacey is an Edinburgh based jeweller. Her work experiments with vitreous enamel combined with iron, steel, semi-precious stones and precious metals. She explores new possibilities that enamel can bring to contemporary jewellery challenging its initial preconceptions.
	FLORA BHATTACHARY Flora Bhattachary is an award winning jeweller based in London. She graduated from an MA at Central St Martins in 2014 and since exhibited her work internationally. Flora works in precious metals and gemstones and is happy to work to commision.
	JESSICA BRIGGS Sheffield. Silver with 18 and23.5 carat golds. Inthe collection of the Cohn Foundation, USA. Work bought by Will Young, James Nesbitt and Michael Stipe. Outlets include Kath Libbert - Bradford, @ work and Gill Wing - London, The Craft Centre and Design Gallery - Leeds, Bluecoat Display Centre - Liverpool, The Biscuit Factory - Newcastle, Ruthin Craft Centre - Wales, Number Five - Cuper.
	EMMA CALVERT Award winning jeweller Emma Calvert creates bold textile pieces by fusing traditional techniques with sculptural forms and contemporary colours.
	ELIZABETH CAMPBELL Elizabeth Jane Campbell is a jeweller and deisgner, specialising in contemporary enamel. Her work explores a personal sense of balance, using precious and non-precious metals as a canvas for her unique enamelling methods
	BECKY CROW My work has always had a strongly illustrative leaning. It grows out of drawings and sketches some observational, some imagined.
