About Anne Lindsay
Anne Lindsay graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in the year 2000. She studied Jewellery and Silversmithing and did an elective in Textile Design. During her time at Edinburgh College of Art, Anne was lucky enough to travel to Melbourne, Australia for four months to study Gold and Silversmithing and Printmaking at RMIT, where she made a teapot. While at college she also had the opportunity to work for Malcolm Appleby, famous engraver and designer, in his workshop in Grandtully.
Anne was awarded several prizes at college (ECA Humanities Prize (the Andrew Grant Bequest) and Edinburgh University Prize for outstanding merit), was shortlisted for the RSA Student Design Awards and awarded a Goldsmiths Precious Metal Bursary.
Since graduating Anne has worked as a freelance designer, a jewellery tutor and in Orro Contemporary Jewellery. In 2004 Anne completed her PGCE in Secondary Education and has been teaching in Glasgow since August 2005.
In 2005 Anne was asked to show her jewellery at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, in a showcase of Scottish work.
Anne has always been interested in printmaking and textiles and focuses on creating different surface qualities in her jewellery, using techniques such as photo-etching and roll-printing. The textured surfaces are transformed into wearable jewellery, often in simple geometric and clean cut forms, with an emphasis on quality of finish and design.
