Artist's statement
Beth's jewellery is innovative, interactive and individual.
Using smart materials and their colour changing capabilities, she pushes the boundaries within jewellery by creating striking pieces. Combining these smart materials with laser etched dyed aluminium and with the use of colour and beautiful structural shapes, she balances the interactivity with quality design.
She is inspired by this sensitive technology and its stimulus of light (photochromic) and heat (thermochromic) as she aims to reinforce the interaction the individual has with their environment. Her collection of wearable jewellery captures an innovative, exciting experience for the wearer and most importantly creating conversational pieces.
She is regularly involved in a variety of creative practices that include designing and working with this technology and developing the capabitlites of these materials within her craft.
