Kathie Murphy
I very much like to use colour in jewellery. By using polyester resin I find I am able to mix an endless myriad of colours. This plastic can also be made to be as translucent or as opaque as I like.
I am presently experimenting with and expanding a series of pieces made using clear resin with with coloured threads.
I cast the resin into a variety of shapes, these having been influenced by the evolvement of written language.
Other influences include musical instruments, plants and the sculptors Nikki de St. Phalle and Jean Tinguely.
My jewellery combines material, shape and colour to produce pieces that are wearable and tactile.
