Artist's Statement

Since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2010, Nicola has set up a workshop at home with the financial aid of the local and Arts Council, designing and making jewellery for shows and galleries nationwide.

Nicola's beautifully delicate jewellery evolved from her fascination in examining natural forms and their structure. She continually collects seeds, pods and mushrooms in particular from nearby woodlands to create ethereal, organic designs.

Working with stainless steel, silver and gemstones Nicola explores colour, texture and structure often repeating a single form throughout a collection. By deconstructing and redesigning the forms in nature creates a unique dreamlike quality to the jewellery.

Nicola is currently developing a collection inspired by the growth of seeds into natural elegant forms.
