Artist's Statement

My work as a jeweller fills me with a sense of accomplishment and has proven to be a great way of translating my inner vision into reality. I most enjoy creating new designs by sampling nature and different art forms.

From the beginning I have always enjoyed the process of transforming the combination of metals and ideas in my head into wearable objects. I use a variety of techniques but one of my favourites is anticlastic raising which really gives form to my designs. I find that repetitive hammering on a piece of metal leads me to unpredictable organic-looking shapes which are often quite beautiful.

I deliberately combine both traditional and contemporary techniques. My pieces are often bold, and I use silver and copper to create contrasting effects of colour and texture. One of my greatest pleasures is to watch the reaction to my work.

‘Dancing with Organic Growth’. It is based on a gold plated copper bangle which I liked so much that I decided to turn it into a collection. My unique pivot clasp necklace is the highlight of the collection
