Artist's Statement
My work explores the relationship between wearer and jewellery through incorporation of secret compartments and containment. An antiquarian outlook on personal objects is what drives my desire to discuss the ways in which people attach metaphysical meaning to inanimate objects.
Sentimentalism is the underlying principle within the collection, and the physical appearance of each piece denotes a sense of history. The marks left by the passing of time are what make pieces unique, and so my works creates opportunity for the individual history to begin. The pieces have within them hidden compartments, which allow the wearer to create their own narrative based on what they decide to secrete.
