About Jane Sedgwick
Born in West Yorkshire, Jane Sedgwick studied at Jacob Kramer College of Art, Leeds, then studied jewellery and silversmithing at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and at the Royal College of Art (1994-1996).
Jane went on to lecture in Craft at the University of Derby and whilst there, sustainability became a focus of her practice. She now works predominately with wood, and often combines it with a textile element. Jane lives in North Norfolk where she manages a small woodland, which provides a sustainable source of timber for her work.
Jane has been awarded numerous awards for her work including the ACJ Dr Mahtab Hanna Award and the Tincal Lab Challenge 2023 Public Vote Award. Since 2015, Jane has exhibited her work regularly in the UK and abroad, including London Craft Week and Munich Jewellery Week.
