Artist's statement
Kylie has showcased her work most recently at New Designers in London and the School of Jewellery Degree Show in June 2017 and will participate in Artistar Jewels exhibition 2018 in Milan.
Kylie has taken the inspiration from the surroundings, environment, especially pollution that caused by construction work where she strives to capture one of the most commonly seen problems in her hometown Hong Kong. Through a collection of jewellery, she wants to highlight that it is significant to make a great balance between economic development and environmental preservation, she also hopes to reflect how has the human being affected the ecological equilibrium through the struggle of anthropocentrism.
Kylie's signature technique involved etching lines on layers of metal pieces and combined with casting jesmonite and artificial grass creating constructive forms. She has a very experimental approach to designing as her chosen technique means that no two pieces are the same.
