EMILY THATCHER

Artist's Statement

Using the simplicity of line and natural form Emily creates ergonomic, wearable stone set art objects in precious metals. The gem material she uses is carefully selected for its unique natural inclusions and colours.

Emily hand crafts her pieces using traditional techniques such as, alloying gold, forging, shaping, texturisng and mount making to create distinctive sculptural forms in metal to emphasise the carefully chosen gemstones. These gemstones are cut and set to show their inclusions and history.

2016 will see Emily launching a new range of work which wil include gemstones that have been cut and carved by herself, as a continuation of the sculptural feel of her jewellery.
