Artist's Statement

Holly is an Edinburgh based jewellery designer working predominantly in silver. Her work is heavily influenced by her own practice of drawing which feeds directly into both the design and construction of her jewellery. Her drawing takes inspiration mostly from natural surroundings, exploring two dimensional patterns in combination with three dimensional natural structures, such as cocoons. Taking a particular interest in linear patterns, Holly strives to translate the unpredictable, random quality of a hand drawn line through a variety of techniques including fold-forming, wire work and chasing. By bringing these techniques together, each piece has a distinct tactile quality.
