About Irene
Irene’s work explores simple methods of building dimension through the process of folding. The interaction of her imprinted patterns mimic the borders of pattern that we see in our surroundings.
Having worked as a graphic designer for many years, Irene moved from paper to metal to create deceivingly light patterned silver bangles and bands, neck pieces and earrings by hand folding silver onto itself in a variety of different ways. Her work does not hide its simple construction as seams and ends become an obvious and integral part of the design. The variations in folding: ‘overlap’, ‘seam’ and ‘pinch’ speak of how work is constructed. Each piece displays a unique marriage of sensual surface patterns that merge and interact with each other and against skin creating a very tactile and wearable collection.

Irene works mainly in fine silver, however work can be commissioned in 18k gold.
