RACHEL BROWN

About Rachel Brown

Rachel fell in love with this lesser known enamelling technique when she was researching different ways to enamel. She have always sketched and doodled and always with a pencil, this technique was the perfect way to combine her love of drawing/mark making and jewellery making. Rachel only uses white enamel which represents the clean white pages of a sketchbook and she hand draws her patterns and marks using a graphite pencil. Her recent work explores the use of graphite powder which produces the most wonderful abstract and painterly marks on the surface of the enamel. Each piece of jewellery is unique due to the hand drawn nature of the work and the firing process which can result in perfect white enamel or if overfired, hints of blues and greens.

Rachel is inspired by anything and everything, from leaves on a tree to the patterns created in a pair of laddered tights!
