STACEY BENTLEY

Artist's Statement

Stacey Bentley graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008 with a 1st Class (Hons) degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing. Her personal interest into the application of colour and texture within jewellery lead her to study an MA at ECA.

Stacey is fascinated by the process of enamelling and the intensity of colour which it produces. She aims to generate a fusion of traditional and contemporary combining various enamelling techniques.

The urban landscape strongly influences her jewellery creations. Using various patterns and structures from the Edinburgh cityscape she begins to build bold, tactile, sculptural forms.

Using a mixed media approach, Stacey has designed a collection which elegantly combines industrial materials such as iron with silver, 18ct gold and semi-precious stones. This creates wearable ideas for jewellery with an unpredictable and painterly quality.
