Artist's Statement
Angie Boothroyd has been handcrafting exquisite gold and silver jewellery at her Cockpit Arts studio since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2001.
Inspired by nature's orderly patterns, Angie's pieces are underpinned by timeless geometrical principles, with wonderfully tactile results. Made up of paper-thin 'leaves' or 'petals' of textured gold and silver, these rhythmic structures drape around the body with natural ease and elegance.
The collection is expertly made by hand - down to the golds themselves, which are painstakingly alloyed to create a subtle palette of greens, yellows, and reds in 18 and 22 carat.
Angie's latest pieces feature colourful semi-precious stones, introducing another layer of depth and colour to her delicate designs. Gems are carefully selected to complement, rather than overpower, the overall structure and palette, keeping the focus on movement and tactility.
Angie exhibits at prestigious fairs and exhibitions locally and and internationally. She has also just written her first book, 'Necklaces and Pendants', published by A&C Black.
