Artist's Statement
Isla makes use of digital tools to explore the infinite possibilities of geometric forms, and is captivated by the myriad ways in which these forms can be constructed, deconstructed and reimagined.
Isla has developed a method of ‘slicing’ digital 3D models into delicate items of jewellery made from layers of cut paper and silver. Her most recent collection of earrings and pins features kinetic elements which encourage playful interaction from the wearer. In this collection, she has produced an array of interchangeable elements, including earring fronts and backs which can be rearranged and combined with other pieces from the collection. The multiple one-off pieces within her collecion create endless possibilities for the combination of forms; and an infinite selection of combinations for the wearer to choose from.
Isla's work has been selected for Visual Arts Scotland's Graduate Showcase 2018.
