Artist's Statement
Paula Treimane graduated from Riga School of Art and Design (RDMV) in 2013. She moved to Scotland to study Jewellery and Silversmithing in 2013 and has now graduated from Glasgow School of Art (GSA) in June 2017.
Paula has showcased her work most recently at New Designers in London and GSA Degree Show in June 2017 as well as ‘RDMV Eiropa’ exhibition in January 2017 at Riga School of Art and Design and has participated in multiple student exhibitions.
Paula’s work focuses on the exploration of materials such as wood, silver, bone, and others, highlighting their interplay and intrinsic values. She specializes in techniques such as wood carving and experimental lost wax casting, testing the limits of her materials and transforming them to create unique forms and compositions. Paula’s Degree Show Collection is a culmination of this research with other significant influences being, the vastness of nature, balance, repetition, and sense of touch and rhythm.
