About Rachel Larkins
Rachel works primarily in resin, brass and wood, often encapsulating imaginary scenes and figures which are hand modelled and painted. Based in a village close to a forest, Rachel’s influences range from the surrounding rural landscape and seasonal folklore to magical realism in literature and painting.
Her latest range for Dazzle was loosley based on the folklore of Rene Descartes journey to Queen Christina of Sweden in 1649, a point in history when long held views of the world were being overturned by science and philosophy whilst deep rooted superstitions prevailed. The setting for each piece is handmade and painted and the glass beads reworked from broken antique necklaces.
Rachel is a regular exhibitor at Made London, @work gallery, London and The Artshop and Chapel, Wales and a tutor at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation. Rachel was also a contributing maker to the ‘Created for Charleston’ range inspired by the Bloomsbury painters and sold through Charleston House award winning museum shop.
