Artist's Statement
Rebecca is an established designer who has specialised in making intricate designs in silver and 18 carat yellow gold, simulating the texture and shimmer of woven fabrics. She also introduces oxidised silver and stones to create depth and contrast.
Her beautiful designs are inspired by delicate, flowing fabrics with their rich textures, agility and softness. She is fascinated in the relationship between textile and metal and this is clearly demonstrated in her intriguing collection where she explores recreating textile like qualities into precious metal.
For Rebecca, movement and tactility are most important, so she has developed her own technique that translates these qualities to create intricate, sculptural, spiralling and elegant pieces that are beautiful to look at and sensuous to wear. In recent work, Rebecca has been using techniques such as fusing silver with gold and stone-setting.
She is a graduate of UCCA Farnham and the Bishopsland Educational Trust, where she was awarded a Gold Bursary, she has also been awarded prestigious bursaries from the Goldsmiths Company and The Goldsmiths Fair.
