WILLIAM SHARP

Industrial frame neckpiece

Artist's statement

Taking influence from innovative and practical German design over the past 100 years, William has applied German designer Dieter Rams 'The 10 principles for Good Design' to Jewellery design. These 10 principles highlight the responsibility of a product designer in producing products that are well made and long lasting. They have helped William to produce work that is efficient and sustainable, by using 3D printed PLA Plastic, and small quantites of cast silver. William has made a collection that is designed through CAD and each design is rapid prototyped and hand finished.

William was the recipient of the New Designers Hallmark Studio Award and the Assosiation of Contemporary Jewellers Mark Fenn Award.

He is currently an Artist in Resident at the Glasgow School of Art.
