About the artist
With an interest in femininity and our percieved notions of beauty, I wanted to create headwear that is both delicate and fragile.
I found that there was a gap between mass-produced hair accessories and traditional wedding tiaras, so my aim became obvious. I wanted to create pieces, which are both visually interesting and aesthetically pleasing, yet still at an affordable price.
The ideas came from my interest in drawing, for example line, form, pattern and volume. I have also studied various structures and movement.
The pieces, when worn, come alive to work with the hair, either enhancing or complimenting them. Once off the head they work as wall hangings, creating interesting shadows and pieces of art on their own.
