About Dazzle
Dazzle was conceived in 1981 by Christine Bola and Tony Gordon in response to the exciting developments in the jewellery world at that time, particularly the use of new non-precious materials.
Ambitiously they organised 3 exhibitions running concurrently, at the National Theatre in London, the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester (where Christine was Theatre Manager) and the Bede Gallery, Jarrow.
The aim was to introduce the wealth of talented, innovative jewellery designers, many of them recently emerged from colleges, to a wider audience. All three exhibitions were a massive success and attracted exceptional attention from press and collectors alike.
Unusually, at the time, all the work on show was for sale and available immediately, a departure from the usual gallery ethos.
Dazzle has continued with this aim for the past four decades and still makes a point of exhibiting exciting young designers, alongside their regular exhibitors.
In 2010 an online version was created www.lovedazzle.com allowing us to share our vision worldwide. Open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The best of contemporary jewellery design.
To this day Dazzle still remains a small operation run by Tony, Christine and jeweller Jenny Llewellyn.
As well as jewellery, we often show textiles, limited edition prints, metalsmithing, small usable objects, clocks and wall-hung work.
