Dazzle@Dovecot

Our seventh year at Dovecot Studios on Infirmary Street for the Edinburgh Festival. We will be opening on 3 August until 27 August with an opening party on Thursday 2 August. The light and airy gallery upstairs in the Ladies Baths will be filled with our usual mix of established and new designers, showing the best of contemporary jewellery in a huge variety of materials. We will also be showing a selection of etchings and woodcuts by Anne Russell and lambswool scarves designed by Green Thomas and made in Scotland. All this and a cafe serving delicious cakes and coffee downstairs!

Anne Russell

Anne Russell, originally from Orkney,now lives and works in Perthshire on the banks of the River Tay. Her influences and inspiration derive from growing up in Orkney, walking the shores and cliffs. Her prints are not always representational, instead suggesting a time of day or a memory, capturing the sense of a place. Latterly she has been concentrating on monoprinting either on it's own, as a one off unique piece of artwork or combining monoprinting with wood cut and etching. Anne graduated from Grays and Glasgow School of Art and exhibits throughout the UK.

Scarves by Green Thomas

Green Thomas are design duo Emma Green and Alan Thomas Dibble. They met at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London.They launched their brand in 2015 and combine their love of pattern and colour with a passion for knitting in Scotland to produce a contemporary range of textiles using luxurious merino lambswool. Each piece is designed in their studio with production taking place in the Scottish Borders.

Liberty Art Fabrics & Fashion

Dovecot Gallery brings to Scotland a major retrospective celebrating the innovative retailer and design studio Liberty London. Featuring over 100 garments and fabrics spanning 140 years, this exhibition explores how textiles bring art into everyday life.

	ALAN ARDIFF Dublin. Silver and gold. Major international name. Commissions include for "Riverdance"; Eurovision Song Contest & Dublin Regional Authority. In the collection of Billy Connolly, the Danish Embassy & Arthur Anderson. Exhibitions and outlets include Electrum, London and Rubicon Gallery, Dublin. Exhibited in Jewellery Moves, National Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh.
	KAROLINA BAINES Edinburgh-based designer/maker, Karolina Baines views jewellery as sculptures that move with the wearer, Karolina seeks to create engaging visual and tactile experiences that instil deep personal connections, with a deft use of texture, colour and linework.
	ROSINA BEECH Rosina finds beauty and colour in unusual functional industrial materials and components. In her Luna collection she combines Sterling Silver with Architectural Aluminium to create unique statement pieces of contemporary jewellery.
	JESSICA BRIGGS Originally a textile designer, Jessica uses ombinations of patterned and textured silver, selectively fusing it with gold whilst often adding depth through part oxidation.
	EMMA CALVERT Award winning jeweller Emma Calvert creates bold textile pieces by fusing traditional techniques with sculptural forms and contemporary colours.
	ELIZABETH CAMPBELL Elizabeth Jane Campbell is a jeweller and deisgner, specialising in contemporary enamel. Her work explores a personal sense of balance, using precious and non-precious metals as a canvas for her unique enamelling methods
	ISLA CHRISTIE Isla Christie is a jeweller and a recent graduate of Silversmithing and Jewellery from the Glasgow School of Art. In her newest collection she uses layered paper and silver to explore the infinite possibilities of geometric forms.
	SUZANNE CLAIRE Contemporary jewellery lovingly French knitted and crocheted by hand. Suzanne Claire is a Manchester based jeweller. 	BECKY CROW My work has always had a strongly illustrative leaning. It grows out of drawings and sketches some observational, some imagined.
	MORNA DARLING Based in Glasgow Morna Darling creates jewellery with a subtle palette of blues and silver. Her work takes inspiration from fabrics and clothing and enjoys playful exploration of how to create aspects of textiles such as layering and folding without using any in her work, achieving this with silver and enamel to create beautifully textured and patterned pieces.
